Nightmare on Front Street (Halloween Block Party)

Front Street closes to traffic and the whole block becomes a Halloween party. Friday, October 30, 2026, from 4pm to 10pm, the Front Street Entertainment Zone between California and Sacramento takes over the street, and Harrington's is right in the middle of it.

What it is

Nightmare on Front Street is San Francisco's free Halloween block party, hosted in California's first Entertainment Zone. Three anchor bars run the block: Schroeder's, Royal Exchange and Harrington's. Because it is an Entertainment Zone, you can carry a drink out of the bar and onto the street, which is the whole point and still faintly unbelievable if you have lived here a while.

Expect live DJs, themed cocktails, food, costumes everywhere, and several thousand people who came downtown on a Friday night on purpose.

• RSVP: Free on Eventbrite, which carries the DJ lineup and any last-minute changes

• Getting here: Four minutes on foot from Embarcadero BART and Muni. Montgomery is a block further

Bikes, strollers and dogs are all welcome. The event is smoke-free under the SF Health Code.

Where Harrington's fits

We have been on this corner since 1935, and the bar runs the full length of the room, which matters on a night when a few thousand people are looking for a drink. Three rooms, a patio on the street itself, and a kitchen that stays open while the block is going.
